Gerotors for Oil Pumps
We are experts in designing and manufacturing high-quality gerotors for even the most demanding applications. Our specialized knowledge of complex rotor profiles and advanced manufacturing processes allows us to deliver superior performance and value.
What is a Gerotor?
A gerotor, or “generated rotor,” is a positive displacement pump that uses a two-part rotor system—an inner rotor and an outer rotor—to efficiently move fluid. Commonly used as oil pumps in engines and transmissions, gerotors are known for their compact size, simple design, and reliability. They create pressure by trapping and carrying fluid in a series of expanding and contracting chambers as the rotors turn.
The Powdered Metal Advantage
Historically, high-pressure gerotors for applications like orbital valves have been machined from expensive steel bar stock. This costly and time-consuming process was necessary because standard powdered metal (PM) parts lacked the strength and density to withstand high pressures without leaking.
We’ve changed that.
We have developed a groundbreaking PM process using a proprietary, high-strength material. This innovation allows us to produce high-density, high-performance gerotors that can handle the demands of high-pressure systems.
Our PM gerotors offer a significant advantage:
- Lower Cost: Eliminate the need for expensive machining and grinding.
- Faster Production: Achieve a higher production rate with a more efficient manufacturing process.
- Superior Performance: Get the strength and precision needed for demanding, high-pressure applications.
The Power of Precision
The key to a high-performance gerotor lies in the precise geometry of its rotors. The inner rotor’s profile is a mathematically generated epitrochoid, designed to mesh perfectly with the outer rotor and create a tight seal.
Even the slightest error in these profiles, often caused by dimensional variations during sintering, can lead to leaks, noise, and reduced efficiency. Our years of experience and specialized software ensure that every rotor we produce meets the most exacting specifications, guaranteeing smooth operation and optimal performance.
A Case Study in Quality

This compact gerotor was developed for a light hydraulic actuator used in yachts. The application required reliable pressure in both forward and reverse directions, along with reduced noise levels.
Several competitors attempted the project but were unsuccessful. When we were invited to take on the challenge, we delivered a solution that met all requirements and earned the customer’s satisfaction.
